Website and branding work for a large non-profit organization that aims to improve health equity across California. Focused on amplifying voices through real-life actions—grantmaking, events, and community engagement—the organization’s design needed to reflect its vibrant, energetic, and youthful ethos. The result is a people-centered approach that brings stories and actions to the forefront, aligning with the organization’s ambitious goals of reimagining health systems and inclusive communities.

The organization’s long history and multiple teams had left its branding fragmented and inconsistent. The challenge was to craft a cohesive and vibrant brand system that reflects its values of diversity, community, and inclusivity. The new identity uses a purposefully curated rainbow color palette, with flexible and dynamic gradients that allow for playful color combinations. This design system is versatile, serving both serious business matters for grantee partners and the more youthful, community-facing initiatives. The result is a brand identity that feels unified, adaptable, and aligned with the organization’s wide-ranging initiatives.
Website
The website’s redesign tackled the challenge of organizing a wealth of content for a diverse audience, from grantee partners to California’s public. Years of content buildup had made the site bloated and hard to navigate. The new content strategy focused on simplifying and prioritizing information, ensuring accessibility and ease of use for all visitors. The result is a living, adaptable website that can accommodate new initiatives and callouts while maintaining the playful, energetic spirit of the brand. The UX emphasizes clear navigation and ease of browsing, ensuring that users can find relevant information quickly and intuitively.
Campaigns & Initiatives
Individual campaigns were given distinct yet cohesive branding within the overall design system. For this multi-stage campaign focused on stories of belonging in California, the goal was to amplify the diverse voices of Californians. Faces and personal stories were placed front and center, with playful animations and vibrant colors enhancing the message. The design encourages user engagement and reflects the aspirational, inclusive nature of the campaign, telling stories in a way that feels personal and inspiring.
Annual Report Microsite
The annual report acts as its own dynamic and interactive experience within the foundation’s website, offering more flexibility for creative design, animations, and interactions. This allowed for a bolder, more engaging approach that captures the foundation’s impact while staying aligned with its vibrant ethos. The report balances striking visuals with smooth navigation, offering users both a guided journey and the ability to explore key sections independently
